Large Silver Torah pointer (Yad), Ottoman Empire, 1885
The silver Torah pointer consists of a bar, pointer and a hanger. The bar is divided into an upper and lower part. The twisted upper part terminates with a loop hanger that decorated with silver fringes. The rectangular lower part terminates with a pointer in a shape of a hand with a pointed index finger. The lower part bears a dedicatory inscription in square linear Hebrew letters, which reads from the upper part towards the pointer: On one side: Haim Bachar Haninah, Yosef Papu, Shlomo Palti, Continues on the other side: The month Heshvan year 5646 [1885]
