Mid-20th century silver grogger made by Peter Ehrenthal. Corresponding to the joyful spirit of the Jewish holiday of Purim, this grogger depicts a whimsical scene. At the center, three figures are joined in festive mood: a rabbi raising his hands in a dance, holding a cup of wine in one of them, while on his sides are a little child and a calf sharing in his celebration. The grogger's handle is shaped in a classical design. A signature by the artist is on the back. Peter Ehrenthal was a skilled silversmith and the owner of Moriah Galleries in New York, one of the earliest and most important Judaica galleries in the world. Every item in Menorah Galleries is accompanied by a lifetime “Certificate of Authenticity” and additional documentation and information regarding the individual artifact and its culture.
